From the velvet tones of the ethereal vocals to the gentle dappling instrumentation, the new single ‘All Your Promises’ from The Kind Hills takes me joyously back to the indie pop of the C86 era with a brief visit to bands like Alvvays on the way.
The lyrics reveal a simple melancholy that suits the delivery:
All your promises
They feel meaningless
All that stress
I need to go
I need to go

There’s a little dusting of twee pop, a refreshing naivety with a touch of yearning, replete with soaring melodies that makes this a ray of sonic sunshine:
‘All Your Promises’ is out now and available to download and stream through the link above and via all the usual sites.
New to me, this band has released a couple of albums already, Clusterluck (2023) and Feeling Blue With You (2025), which received radio support across Australia, Switzerland, and the US, and the single comes off their forthcoming album ‘Little Epiphanies’ due out on 10 May. I’m looking forward to hearing this, as well as revisiting their earlier material.
The Kind Hills are a fascinating entity. Originally formed among friends in Perth, they have evolved into a global creative project, with members based in Brisbane, Lucerne, London, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. They are Martin, Roman, Bea, Jessica, Brett and Chase.
