Polish death metal veterans Vader are heading back to Australia this November, bringing more than four decades of extremity with them for shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
Formed in Olsztyn, Vader have spent much of their career operating at full throttle. Beginning in more traditional heavy metal territory before moving through thrash and speed metal, the band eventually found their home in death metal, releasing debut album The Ultimate Incantation in 1992 and building a reputation as relentless international road warriors.
This time around, the focus falls on two releases from a particularly ferocious period in the band’s history. Vader will revisit Litany and Reign Forever World, celebrating 25 years of records that pushed their combination of rapid-fire riffing, brutal percussion and Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek’s unmistakable vocals into increasingly punishing territory.
Wiwczarek remains the constant at the heart of Vader, currently joined by guitarist Marek “Spider” Pająk, bassist Tomasz “Hal” Halicki and drummer Michał Andrzejczyk. Across more than 40 years, lineup changes and a dozen studio albums, the band have rarely stopped moving.
The Australian run kicks off at Melbourne’s Croxton on November 25 before hitting Brisbane’s Crowbar on November 26 and Sydney’s Crowbar on November 27. For Australian death metal fans, three nights of Vader revisiting some of their heaviest material will provide a bruising end to November.
