London-based West End performer and classical crossover tenor Shimi Goodman returns with his latest release, ‘Adagio’, a cinematic new single accompanied by a glossy new video.
Hailing from Tel Aviv and now based in London, Shimi Goodman has spent years building a career that bridges musical theatre, classical performance, and contemporary crossover music. His latest release, ‘Adagio’, brings together the grandeur of orchestral arrangements with the emotional intimacy of a personal story, creating a dramatic and immersive listening experience.
Glorious strings, operatic vocals, and delicate synth textures introduce ‘Adagio’, a moody and atmospheric track that feels perfectly suited to the world of the phantom, reflecting Goodman’s deep connection to his West End roots. The single moves effortlessly between the worlds of classical and commercial music, delivering a modern showstopper with both theatrical scale and emotional depth.
Produced by George Guerrette, orchestrated by Shay Alon, and performed by members of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, ‘Adagio’ showcases Goodman’s ambition to create music that honours classical traditions while embracing a contemporary sound. The track was mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Justin Gray and is available in immersive Dolby Atmos, allowing audiences to experience the full richness of its production.
Discussing the release, Shimi explains:
“Adagio has been a labour of love for many years. I wanted to create something that honoured the beauty of the original while telling my own story through it. I’ve realised a vision that had lived in my heart for a long time. I hope listeners don’t just hear a song, but experience an emotional journey. If, even for a few minutes, Adagio brings someone comfort, hope or reminds them of someone they love, then it has achieved exactly what I dreamed it would.”
The accompanying music video expands the emotional world of ‘Adagio’, capturing Goodman not only as a vocalist but as a performer and storyteller. Directed by Omri Dagan and beautifully filmed at George Jarvis School, Staunton-on-Wye, the visual highlights Goodman’s expressive artistry, combining cinematic imagery with a mesmerising vocal performance.
Goodman’s ability to connect music and drama has been shaped by an extensive theatrical career. His previous credits include major West End productions such as Dirty Dancing, Chicago, Evita, and Bombay Dreams, alongside performances for distinguished figures including King Felipe VI of Spain and Shimon Peres, former President of Israel.
Having received standing ovations across New York, the United States, and his home city of London, ‘Adagio’ marks a significant return for Goodman. It is his first single since 2024’s ‘Nella Fantasia’ and represents a new chapter built on decades of experience across the worlds of theatre and music.
With its sweeping orchestration, heartfelt message, and unmistakable theatrical identity, ‘Adagio’ showcases Shimi Goodman’s unique ability to unite classical elegance with contemporary emotion, creating a release that celebrates both his past and the future of classical crossover music.
