News: South Summit announce national tour in support of sophomore EP ‘Creatures’

Up and coming five piece indie rockers, South Summit have announced a 10 date national tour on the back of their recent sophomore EP release, ‘Creatures’, the follow-up to 2021’s debut EP, Merlin’s.

The band consists of Isaiah Reuben (lead vocals), Josh Trindall (bass), Fynn Samorali (lead guitar), Nehemiah Reuben (rhythm guitar, vocals) and Nathan Osborne (drums).

The West Australian band have been making waves right around Australia with their well-crafted, indie surf/psychedelic vibes, and have even earnt themselves a 2022 triple j Unearthed ‘Artist of the Year’ nomination (triple j being Australia’s national youth broadcaster).

They have managed to make the lineups of some of the country’s bigger festivals, including Falls Festival, BIGSOUND, Springtime Festival, NYE On The Hill and Day On The Lawn, which have given them further widespread live exposure to compliment their national radio surge.

‘Creatures’ begins with the delicately psychedelic instrumental Yaama (hello), which highlights the strong indigenous roots of the band as it mixes droning didgeridoo and swirling guitars, before leading into the meat of the EP, with tracks Tired of Waiting, River Days, Changes, Runaway and Promise Me taking the listener along a musical trip through the turmoil that the band have endured over time and have used to draw inspiration from.

The highlight of the EP for mine, however, is the slightly audacious, 7 minute long closing track, Yaluu. Having always been partial to a long album track, Yaluu highlights all of that which is good about South Summit and ‘Creatures’……great songs teamed with fantastic vocals and brilliant, soaring guitar work.

South Summit are a young band who are definitely in the ascension, and are without doubt one to watch for.

Tickets for the tour in March and April are available here.
