The Screaming Jets are proving that few Australian rock bands can bridge worlds quite like they can, announcing two very different but equally fitting live appearances that will take them from the heart of country music in Tamworth to one of Scotland’s most celebrated rock festivals in 2027.
The Newcastle rock veterans will begin the year by returning to The Longyard Hotel during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, marking their third consecutive appearance at the iconic venue. After selling out both their 2025 and 2026 performances, the annual pilgrimage has become something of a tradition, with fans expected to snap up tickets once again.
From there, The Screaming Jets will swap country music’s capital for the birthplace of one of rock’s greatest frontmen, heading to Kirriemuir, Scotland, to make their debut at BONFEST. Held in honour of AC/DC legend Bon Scott, the annual festival transforms the Scottish town into a gathering place for rock fans from around the world, with the Jets set to appear as special guests on Friday, April 30.
For frontman Dave Gleeson, the invitation carries particular significance.
“Bon Scott is a rock n roll hero, no question,” Gleeson says. “He lived it like he sang it, straight up and hard, setting the stories of his wild life to the rock n rollinest band in the world. I love him so much I’ve got a tattoo of him on my arm.”
It is a schedule that neatly encapsulates the enduring appeal of The Screaming Jets. One month they are sharing the bill with Australia’s country music community; the next they are paying tribute to one of rock’s greatest icons on the international stage. Few bands possess the versatility, or the live reputation, to move so comfortably between those worlds.
