Manchester indie rock upstarts Westside Cowboy are heading Down Under for the first time, announcing three Australian headline shows in March 2027 alongside their appearance at Golden Plains Festival.
And they’re arriving with plenty of momentum. Their debut album It Goes On, released in August, has been turning heads with its scrappy guitars, sharp songwriting and no-nonsense approach to indie rock. Eleven tracks packed into 35 minutes, produced by Loren Humphrey, whose credits include Geese, Cameron Winter and Wunderhorse.
Formed in 2023, the four-piece have wasted little time making a name for themselves. They’ve won Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition, appeared on Later… with Jools Holland and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and hit the road with Geese and Black Country, New Road. A North American tour with Fontaines D.C. is also on the cards.
Made up of Jimmy Bradbury, Reuben Haycocks, Aoife Anson O’Connell and Paddy Murphy, Westside Cowboy have built their sound around a simple idea: keep the songs tight, ditch the unnecessary fuss and let the guitars do the talking.
With comparisons to Courtney Barnett, The Velvet Underground and Parquet Courts already flying around, the band are quickly becoming one of Britain’s most exciting new guitar acts.
Now Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane get their first taste. Judging by the speed of their rise, these could be the shows you’ll be bragging about catching in a few years.
