News: Yours & Owls Festival Confirms 2026 Return to Wollongong

There’s a steady rhythm to Yours & Owls Festival, a sense that each year it returns not just as an event but as a reflection of where the broader festival landscape is sitting. The Wollongong mainstay has now confirmed its 2026 edition, set to take place across October 3 and 4 on Dharawal Country, continuing its run as one of the South Coast’s most distinctive multi-genre gatherings.

The announcement arrives with the memory of 2025 still close to the surface. That edition leaned into contrast, pairing the sharp edges of Fontaines D.C. with the widescreen familiarity of The Kooks and the legacy pull of Goo Goo Dolls. It was a lineup that refused to settle into a single lane, instead building its identity through juxtaposition.

Beyond the music, Yours & Owls also positioned itself within a broader cultural shift, becoming one of the first festivals in Australia to introduce pill testing. The move placed it at the centre of ongoing conversations around harm minimisation and festival safety, signalling an awareness that extends beyond programming alone.

With dates now locked for 2026, attention turns inevitably to the lineup. Yours & Owls has built a reputation on unpredictability, balancing international names with emerging local acts, often leaning into left-of-centre bookings that reshape expectations rather than reinforce them.

For those who have watched it evolve, the festival’s appeal lies in that balance, part beachside escape, part curated collision of sounds and ideas. October’s return doesn’t yet reveal its full shape, but if previous years are any indication, it’s unlikely to play things safe.
