Premiere: Chivvy release their epic new single ‘Red Water’

Out tomorrow on Novoton is the new single from Gothenburg trio Chivvy, Red Water. It’s been a year of change for the band (hasn’t it for everyone!) with a new name (they were formally known as The Tape, and a more dynamic, emotive sound.

Based on notions of captivity and escape, a theme that can be applied both to animal rights, human flight and human captivity, it’s also a song of hope, wishing for a better future.

The band do a fine line in melancholy laced indie rock – sweeping melody lines and this lovely ambience about it that treads a path somewhere between the epic and this icy, claustrophobic feel. best of all is when it slips off either side of that path, and those harmonies hit you right in the feels.
