Premiere: Desure releases new track and visuals for the beautifully melancholy Hi/Lo

Los Angeles Desure, aka Joshua Desure, is gearing up for the release of his Pollen EP, out on November 20th, and ahead of it, we’re delighted to premiere the lyric video to the track Hi/Lo right here on Backseat Mafia.

Of the track Desure says “Hi/Lo is a perfect example of what the process in which making this entire record was like. It was written on the spot in the studio. Everyone playing a part and throwing around ideas until a fully formed song emerged. We definitely wanted a the acoustic guitar harmony part sort of lindsey buckingham style. The lyrics paint a picture and draw you into the story. Hope you dig it!”

Desure mixes up the Folk, country and indie rock to make something that sidles up very nicely to the likes of The War On Drugs, with Hi/Lo made up of guitar swoons here and Americana stylings there, boosted by gently strumming acoustic guitar parts and a good dose of synth sounds to mix things up a bit.

There’s a little bit of the 70s involved in the song, but its the melancholy and general beauty of the melodies that really grab you.

Check it out, here along with the visuals which focus on Desure singing along cut in with footage of live performances.
