London based five-piece Moonshine Heavies return with the breezy yet biting new single ‘Two Fingers’, showcasing their strikingly complete, vintage tinted alt-rock sound despite being only their third single. Needless to say, we’re very excited to be running the premiere.

Capturing an infectious indie tone reminiscent of The Fratellis or The Zutons whilst leaning into the more melancholic, whimsical emotive undertone of the bands songwriting. Tinted with a 70’s edge within the playful guitar lines and the tracks bopping bass line the band take a familiar indie sound but give it a fresh kick of nostalgia and a unique edge.

Recorded and produced at Lightship 95 Studios by Giles Barrett and Dave Holmes (Bess Attwell, Alfa Mist, Ezra Collective, Ghostpoet) the track’s sparkling production highlights the band’s abilities as musicians – demonstrating their ability to deliver tight, virtuoso performances across every instrument. Leaving space for the allows the husky, effortlessly catchy and charismatic lead vocals to shimmer above the tight indie-rock backdrop, the band showcase how to expertly craft a pop-rock soundscape. As the track reaches the chorus, an etherial wash of backing vocals enter under the vibrant and infectiously catchy lead melodies.

Speaking about the track, the band share:

“Although the song is drenched in hazy summer vibes, beneath the initial sunkissed simmer the true core of the song centres around the concept of raising two fingers to someone after a breakup. (You know the V sign!)

The lyrics elaborate on the feeling you have when you think that you know someone, but then suddenly realise that they are in fact a stranger. Frustration comes easily when someone attempts to hide their own selfishness within an apparent selfless act – but you can either choose to be upset, or you can dust yourself down, boogie and raise two fingers instead.”

A brilliant effort, showcasing the bands tight sound and faultless songwriting abilities, blending classic rock elements with fresh indie tendencies, Moonshine Heavies new single ‘Two Fingers’ highlights the band as one to watch. Be sure to catch them playing at this year’s Camden Rocks!
