Say Psych: Video Premiere: Pete International Airport – The Watermark (Jagz Kooner Remix)

Pete International Airport have announced the release of their third album, It Felt Like the End of the World, is due out at the end of June. BSM is pleased to bring you a premiere of their new single, ‘The Watermark’ (Jagz Kooner remix), which he calls ‘Tones From the Stone Circle’.

Vocals come from Daniel Sparks and Jasun Adams assisted with the lyrics. The video was directed by Francesca Bonci. Both the 12’ Single and the record are on Little Cloud Records.

Named after a song by Peter G. Holmström’s other band, The Dandy Warhols, the eclectic project nails the elusive aesthetic of unexpected yet inviting sound art. The band’s quest to build immersive soundscapes that are also classic, catchy songs succeeds, in part, due to Holmström’s uncanny ability to curate and his penchant for dropping collaborators into challenging creative spaces—both virtual and actual—then letting them duke it out. Rachel Goswell from Slowdive, Alexander Hackett from Pang Attack, Dion Lunadon from A Place To Bury Strangers and the D4, and, none-other-than Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick (on 12 string bass), tangle with Peter’s usual coterie of musical foils. The results are folded into Holmström’s hyper-stylized world of symbols, themes, and archetypes.

Sparks explains; “The story that creates the most frustration and anger, personally, runs around politicians, law-makers, corporations and religious leaders. A sort of deep-despair-result from their power, policies, over-all selfishness, greed, suppression and destruction of the natural world and itʼs inhabitants. I felt an urge to write about a voice of intelligence and progress, with full knowledge of true history, the present moment and future, that could reprimand those individuals with the invert of their destructive power and make change – through them, change their perspective and remove their tight grip that is based in fear. Some sort of compassion but also something that would scare-the-shit-out-of-them as punishment (a little bit, or the right amount) based on principle and our human need for justice and fairness plus a kind of payback for all living things suffering unnecessarily due to their actions.”
