SEE: Damn Vandals – ‘Into The Light Of Love’: rock ‘n’ roll with the lockdown monkey

LOCKDOWN monkey  – now there’s a cool concept. I wonder if he’s a distant, cross-channel of Mr Oizo’s Flat Eric, sold not on deep techno squelch but the eternal blessings of good ol’ scuzzy rawk ‘n’ roll.

Damn Vandals, who crawled up and into our heads toting proper sleazy and squealy axe abuse are following up “They Won’t Be Happy Till They Blow Up The Moon”, as championed by Shaun Keaveny on 6 Music, with “Into The Light Of Love”, a proper little blast to flip your wig and get your engineer’s boot planted firmly on the foldback.

A lockdown video it is – and from that phase we’ll no doubt look back at and refer to as proper lockdown, really genuinely empty city streets the backdrop for our lovelorn, hugs-seeking teddy, out there seeking – while lockdown monkey does jigsaws and grinds through his toilet roll stockpile.

Damn Vandals are, meanwhile, up in yer grille, with a melodic punk-stoner thang full of riffs. I am the only one catching a little whiff of Swervedriver in here?

Damn Vandals will be releasing their third album, You Me The Devil And The Sunshine, this autumn. Meanwhile keep up with their doings during whichever gradation of lockdown we may be in at their website, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
