See: Dominic Breen releases evocative video for the glorious track ‘James Street Tonight’ plus announces live shows

Dominic Breens‘s track ‘James Street Tonight’, released at the beginning of March, was lauded by us for its chiming guitars and melancholia, lifted skywards by Breen’s gorgeous vocals. The song continues to haunt: a beautiful and enigmatic release that is growing in stature through time.

Breen has also just announced a series of live gigs across Australia.

Breen has just released a video, directed by Dominic Breen and Joel Ludemann, to accompany the track, and it fantastically captures the yearning and the melancholia through its simple vignettes of Breen as a wandering troubadour, with vibrant, stark colours and dreamy interludes. The scenes of the party where everyone is locked within their own world, dreaming, is a perfect encapsulation of the song and the atmosphere, a celebration of introspection and reverie.

Co-director Joel Ludemann says:

The aim of the clip was to create a simple visual contrast between a lonely feeling of roaming the streets at night and the warmth and connection available on the inside. The latter was intended to be less realistic, and more of what those on the outside imagine the inside to feel like.

You can stream the track here through label Double Drummer.

‘James Street Tonight’ comes from Dominic’s debut album, recorded in Sydney over the past six months with Middle Kids’ member Tim Fitz producing. Fitz also played pedal steel and bass on the track, with the rest of the instrumentation handled entirely by Breen.

The album is currently in the final stages of production, with more new tracks to be released in the first half of this year. A title and release date will be announced shortly.

The last week has been a busy one for Breen, guesting with Middle Kids for their appearance on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’.

In the meantime, Breen has just announced a series of gigs down the East Coast of Australia:
