Backseat Mafia have been ardent supporters of Stefano De Stefano ever since reviewing his first band Pipers back in our early days in 2014, through to his debut album ‘Of Ghosts and Marvels’ under the name An Early Bird reviewed by us in 2018.
De Stefano has developed quite a presence in Italy where he has supported the likes of Jake Bugg, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Christopher Paul Stelling, Dan Owen, S. Carey, Stu Larsen, Grant Lee Phillips, Scott Matthews and many others.
An Early Bird is back with the beautiful single ‘One Kiss Broke The Promise’, a gentle and lush piece, cloaked in an ethereal romanticism. According to De Stefano,
…the song tells how a silent promise can be fragmented in the instant of a kiss
It has a gorgeous, expansive chorus and deep, rolling piano underneath De Stefano’s haunting, expressive vocals. It’s really a delicately beautiful song from the Italian troubadour:
