Edinburgh’s own Barry Can’t Swim is back with a vibrant new single titled “Kimbara,” following his well-received debut album ‘When Will We Land?’ from October 2023. This infectious track blends deep house and nu disco with a Latin flair, driven by lively samples that infuse the music with a sunny, breezy mood, and is out now on the Ninja Tune label.

“Kimbara” is Barry Can’t Swim stepping into the light with what is an undeniably catchy and club-ready anthem that exudes joyful energy. The song features lively horns, infectious vocal snippets – taken from Cuban artist Celia Cruz’s iconic salsa recording “Quimbara” from 1974, and a bubbling bassline all of which is expertly chopped and reassembled. As the track progresses, it builds into a moment of rapturous euphoria, making it a surefire dancefloor favorite for the upcoming summer season.

Barry’s recent successes at Coachella and his sold-out tours across the UK and North America have only added to the anticipation surrounding “Kimbara.” His DJ sets have already highlighted this track as a fan favorite, and it’s exciting to see it officially released for wider enjoyment.

Looking ahead, Barry Can’t Swim’s busy schedule includes performances at major festivals like Primavera, Glastonbury, and Reading & Leeds, along with upcoming headline shows in the UK. This single is a testament to Barry Can’t Swim’s ability to blend genres and create music that resonates with audiences, offering a refreshing and uplifting experience on the dancefloor.
