Track: Belle and Sebastian – Sister Buddha

Love or hate them the never ending indulgent talent of Belle and Sebastian is thankfully still with us. They are a band that takes the craft of songwriting seriously and have a wealth of great albums behind them.

There new release is a soundtrack to the film Days of the Bagnold Summer and features old and new material, some from the late 90’s, collaborated with the films director Simon Bird. There first single is a new track inspired by Birds present interest in Buddhism.

Drums and guitar lead you in with the guitar picking out the main theme setting the scene for Murdochs vocals, an up beat call to a girl who’s too good for this world and looking to escape for a better life. It’s a song brimming with a message of inner strength and solidarity. Fans of the band will of course love it. Its Belle and Sebastian doing what they do best. Melodic jangly guitars and compassionate bittersweet vocals.

Single out now from Matador records with the album to be released September 13th.
