Queensland garage-rock outfit Girl and Girl have returned with a ferocious new double offering, unveiling the visceral single ‘It’s Dead’ alongside companion track ‘Hell’, while announcing an East Coast Australian tour for July and August.

Stream HERE.

Released via Virgin Music Australia and Sub Pop, ‘It’s Dead’ finds the band leaning further into the wiry post-punk energy and emotional intensity for which they are known. The song is accompanied by a gleefully unhinged video directed by Alexandros Kalas, pairing its explosive energy with a gore-soaked visual that matches every riff with blood-spattered theatricality.

Recorded with producer Jasper at his unconventional Ocean Grove studio, the sessions were as memorable as the finished result. Between takes the band swam in the ocean, weathered summer storms and even camped outside the studio.

Since forming in 2020, Girl and Girl have steadily built an international reputation through their blend of garage rock, post-punk and sharp observational songwriting. Their 2024 debut album Call A Doctor earned praise from NME as “brilliantly bonkers indie rock”, while attracting support from Rolling Stone, DIY, BBC 6 Music and Pitchfork. Extensive touring has only strengthened their profile, with appearances at SXSW, Laneway Festival, The Great Escape, Wide Awake, Reeperbahn and Manchester Psych Festival. The band will shortly embark on an East Coast tour of Australia.
