Four-time Grammy nominee Grace Potter is charging toward the release of her new album Trespasser with the arrival of its second single, the bruising and exhilarating ‘Run Baby Run’. Powered by revved-up guitars and an irrepressible sense of momentum, the track finds Potter once again transforming deeply personal experiences into widescreen rock and roll.
Due for release on August 21 via Thirty Tigers, Trespasser arrives as the follow-up to 2023’s acclaimed Mother Road, but where that record emerged from a search for solace, its successor finds Potter embracing a more fearless and liberated perspective. Across ten songs, she inhabits a cast of wanderers, ghosts and outsiders, constructing what feels like a mythic road movie fuelled by self-discovery and reinvention.
‘Run Baby Run’ occupies a pivotal place in that narrative. Beneath its propulsive rhythms lies a story of escape and survival, capturing the urgency of breaking free while retaining the defiant spirit that has long defined Potter’s music. It is another reminder of her ability to blend emotional honesty with the kind of swaggering rock hooks that have made her one of modern Americana’s most compelling voices.
Produced by Potter’s husband and longtime collaborator Eric Valentine, whose credits include Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer and Slash, Trespasser was recorded across Topanga Canyon, Nashville and Vermont with an impressive cast of musicians that includes Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, alongside members of Cage The Elephant, Kings of Leon and Potter’s own touring band.
