Lewis Capaldi has added a new chapter to his comeback run with the release of Stay Love, a special addition to the deluxe edition of his 2025 Survive EP. The new ballad arrived in typically dramatic fashion, first unveiled during a surprise pop-up set at Penn Station before receiving its full live debut hours later at a sold-out Madison Square Garden.
“Stay Love” is classic Capaldi in all the right ways. Built around piano and emotional directness, the song strips things back to allow his unmistakable voice to carry every line. It is a plea for companionship during difficult moments, balancing fragility with a stubborn sense of hope. The result feels intimate even at arena scale, a reminder of why Capaldi’s songwriting continues to resonate so widely.
Produced by The Monsters & Strangerz and Michael Pollack, the track expands Survive into a five-song collection that charts loss, endurance and recovery. Alongside the UK chart-topping title track, the EP also includes Something In The Heavens, Almost and The Day That I Die, deepening what already feels like one of the more emotionally candid releases of his career.
The Madison Square Garden launch carried added meaning. Capaldi invited former staff from the now-closed Rockwood Music Hall, one of the venues that hosted his early U.S. headline shows, and donated to the National Independent Venue Association. It was a pointed reminder that before arenas and platinum plaques, artists begin in smaller rooms fighting to be heard.
Backseat Mafia caught Capaldi in Sydney in 2025, where his blend of sharp humour and emotional candour translated just as strongly in person as it does on record. Few mainstream artists move so comfortably between levity and heartbreak.
With North American dates still to come, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl, before a huge UK and Ireland summer run featuring BST Hyde Park, Capaldi’s latest phase looks less like a return and more like renewed momentum. “Stay Love” only strengthens that impression.
