In the wake of their explosive debut with ‘Dirt‘ in 2023 and a riveting showcase at the renowned Laneway Festival, Worm Girlz is ready to captivate audiences once again with their latest release, ‘Cool Girl‘. Comprising the dynamic talents of Jade Montgomery, Angie Gale, Isabella Wood-de-Melo, Lauren Rowe, and Nikolai Bray, Worm Girlz stands poised at the forefront of the Australian music scene, ready to leave an indelible mark with their distinct fusion of garage rock energy and musical finesse.

In their latest release, ‘Cool Girl’, Worm Girlz fearlessly tackles toxic culture head-on, shining a spotlight on those who turn a blind eye to the questionable deeds of their peers. Unlike a vulnerable plea for change, this track takes a bold stance, offering a searing critique. The band’s fervent call for listeners to speak out and demand accountability resonates throughout the song, encapsulated in the powerful mantra, “Don’t let them get away with it”.

Helmed by the deft hands of Lucas Montgomery in recording and mixing, ‘Cool Girl’ emerges as a ferocious anthem characterized by commanding bass rhythms and a compelling, call-to-arms chorus. The song serves as an audible manifestation of the band’s profound frustration with societal apathy, urging audiences to confront and challenge unacceptable behaviour.

With its punchy and catchy nature, ‘Cool Girl’ proudly showcases the distinctive Aussie rock accent, reaffirming that the genre takes on a unique resonance when born from the depths of Australia. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is nothing cooler than Australia’s take on punk rock garage bands.

Alongside others such as Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Body Type, Downgirl, Church Moms, and many more, these bands ferociously discard unnecessary politeness in favour of an authentic and unapologetic expression of their musical narratives.

Since their impactful debut in March 2023, Worm Girlz has been on an upward trajectory, consistently advancing from one achievement to the next. From a notable East Coast tour alongside Dusty to sharing stages with acclaimed artists like Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Haters.

They will next be playing in an upcoming live performance supporting Perry Street Park on their ‘These Days’ Tour at Stranded Bar (Fortitude Valley, QLD) on Friday, 8th March. With each chord struck and every lyric passionately delivered, Worm Girlz is poised to leave an enduring mark on the hearts of their audience, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the vibrant landscape of Australian rock.
