Naarm/Melbourne chanteuse Holly Hebe continues her ascendancy with her new single ‘Bitterness’ – another track that puts on display her extraordinary vocals and songwriting skills. We last visited Hebe when she released her EP ‘Ruby’ last year (see our review here) which we described as another triumph for an artist we have been admiring and reviewing for a number of years.
‘Bittersweet’ is tinged with a thread of yearning and melancholia, the production immaculate with Hebe’s delivery velvet and smooth. The song casts an eye at the modern trend of keyboard warriors and the attendant angst, with Hebe urging optimism and resilience before bitterness takes hold. The result is something rich and luscious:
