TRACK: SQUID – SLUDGE

Squid have just dropped their new single Sludge. Starting all atmospheric before the angular chaotic scream fills your ears. Created out of a soundcheck jam the guitars are on the right side of fuzz with some great scratchy noises flying on the whirlwind behind Ollie Judge’s frantic vocals.

Squid admits that the song “was kind of written about self-isolation before it was a government-enforced lifestyle,” and it makes in-person exchanges sound like a thing of the distant past. Instead of FaceTiming a loved one, Judge lies in bed “with celebrity chefs.”

Producer Dan Carey has done a great job of tying all the chaos together allowing Squid to really push themselves. One of the reasons they are hotly tipped for this year and refreshing to hear a band playing outside the normal guitar band box. These guys have a lot of talent between them.

Check it out, here.
