Track: Tan Cologne – Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico

Probably influenced by a recent revisit to the world of TV series ‘Breaking Bad’, my image of New Mexico is a bright, cloudless, surreal landscape of magic, bleached bones and dust. Tan Cologne’s gorgeous new debut single ‘Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico’ has somehow magically captures this vision in sound.

Tan Cologne (what a brilliantly evocative name) consists of duo Lauren Green and Marissa Macias and their new single is a dreamy, hypnotic reverie with haunting layers, textures, crystalline guitars with a slight discordance and disembodied vocals painting a wash over the top. ‘Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico’ is like a new genre of southwestern gothic, Cocteau Twins meeting Wall of Voodoo.

It is slightly foreboding, chilling but utterly mesmerising. The accompanying video reflects this world: the slow moving oil tanker-sized souped-up cars with dust, decay and a bleak unforgiving landscape.

This is undoubtedly a glorious debut. You can get the single from the sources below:
