TRACK: THE GREAT DICTATORS – RIOT ON A DIET

Danish indie rockers – The Great Dictators return with the announcement of a full length album since ‘Woman’ in 2016. New album entitled ‘One Eye Opener’ is released April 17th via Celebration Records. It’s a more electronic affair as their new single ‘Riot On A Diet” introduces.

The band have dropped the likes of Kraftwerk, The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, Leonard Cohen and Brian Eno as influences for the album and you can hear the electronic influences in this track in particular.

Taking inspiration from Lead singer Dragut Lugalzagosi’s heavy depression and our crazy world, “life is underwhelming you don’t have to remind me” ‘Riot On a Diet’ is a sad cry for the end of love “we’re both dead lovers on vacation”. A quiet desperation, “Craving another touch”. A quiet desperation of a tired situation both desperate to escape from. All played out over a gloomy bass led work of synths and a slow crooning from Lugalzagosi.
