Track: Empathy Test – Demons/Seeing Stars

Empathy Test

There’s something really enigmatic about London-based electronic duo Empathy Test. Even without listening to a note, there is a lot of mystery attached to the art work that accompanies previous releases ‘Throwing Stones’ and ‘Losing Touch’. Aesthetics are obviously an important factor to them as a band, and on listening, the emotive and cinematic sound they have adopted shows they use that same method to creating music. With more than a little influence from bands from the golden era of synth music, the eighties, Empathy test have taken those sounds and created something that sounds brand new.

It’s been a while in the making, following their previous release in 2014, but their new double A-side single ‘Demons’ and ‘Seeing Stars’ picks up where they left off, and continues seeing the band making the music they obviously love. They have been picking up moment recently with their songs being played by the likes of XFM and BBC Introducing. We think they’re pretty fab here at Backseat Mafia Towers too.

The boys are off on tour (check out the dates on the link below) and ‘Seeing Stars’ and ‘Demons’ are both available to buy or stream now.
