J Hubner

306 posts
Born in the bosom of the Midwest, USA, J Hubner grew up in a woods next to a cornfield that was just a throwing distance to a lake. Music has been a constant in J Hubner's life since he was a little kid soundtracking epic battles with Star Wars action figures with his older brother's Deep Purple, Megadeth, and W.A.S.P. cassettes. He started playing guitar at 12 and since 2006 has self-released 10 albums under the names Goodbyewave, Sunnydaymassacre, Dream District, and J. Hubner. Three years ago J Hubner began writing about music independently. Album reviews, artist interviews, and general musings on his love of music. He writes at www.jhubner73.com, www.backseatmafia.com, and several smaller musical publications. J Hubner is married with three kids and a miniature schnauzer named Otto. He still resides in the Midwest, USA. Near that same lake.

Mauro Remiddi appeared from a hazy cloud of synthwave and dream pop back in 2012 under the name Porcelain Raft with the lush Strange Weekend. It was this wonderful mix…

Album Review: Judas Priest – Turbo 30 (Remastered 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

  • February 14, 2017
  • J Hubner
I’m just going to come out and say it, Judas Priest’s Turbo was a damn good album. It was much maligned by the long-haired, leather-wearing metal dudes that pumped fists…

Moon Duo have had the same mission statement since their first full length LP back in 2011, and they’ve kept to that mission statement. What is it? Simple, find a…

Richard Pinhas is what you’d call a pioneer of both electronic music and experimental rock. His early years were spent recording with first Schizo, then space rock pioneers Heldon, as…

Album Review: Delicate Steve – This Is Steve

  • January 30, 2017

Delicate Steve is not what you’d think of as a guitar virtuoso when you listen to his records, but that’s exactly what he is. The reason you don’t think of…

Album Review: Ulrich Schnauss & Jonas Munk – Passage

  • January 26, 2017
  • J Hubner
The newest collaboration between Ulrich Schnauss and Jonas Munk, titled simply Passage, is a heady mix of intellectual ambient and euphoric electronic. You get Schnauss’ synths layered with Munk’s liquid…
