Babyshambles announce Margate summer gathering

Indie royalty, Babyshambles announced a major summer headline show at Dreamland Margate, one of their most prominent UK appearances since stepping back into the light after an 11-year absence.

Presented by Strap Originals in association with RG Live, the show lands on Sunday 30 August 2026, bringing their much-celebrated return to the Kent coast after a run of sold-out dates across the country at the end of 2025.

Set within the storied grounds of Dreamland, the performance unfolds inside one of Britain’s best-loved seaside amusement parks. Historic rides, open skies and salty sea air will frame the stage, giving the night the feel of a Bank Holiday pilgrimage rather than a routine stop on the circuit.

Peter Doherty puts it plainly: “We are only doing one show in our beautiful and pleasant Albion this year and where better than Margate. A beano is guaranteed for all. Kiss me quick – sun, sea, sand on a Bank holiday weekend… does it get any better?… No.”

The supporting bill is sharp and well chosen. Big Special arrive as one of the country’s most urgent new voices, fusing spoken word, punk abrasion and hip hop weight into performances that bristle with purpose. Warmduscher bring their blend of post-punk, electronics and funk, a band as likely to lurch sideways as they are to lock into a groove. Birmingham’s GANS deal in wiry, DIY guitar noise, while Pregoblin’s collision of electronics and punk rounds out a line-up that nods to both lineage and now.

For Babyshambles, the show marks another chapter in a story that began in the early 2000s, with Down in Albion and Shotter’s Nation carving their names into British indie folklore. The hunger remains. Margate will feel it.
