Countdown to Rebellion – Day 26: Introducing The Meffs

Colchester two-piece, Lily (Guitar/Vox) and Lewis (Drums & Backing Vox) are another UK act who are having a stellar time at the moment . Signed to Fat Mike’s (NOFX) Bottles To The Ground label, their two CD Broken Britain EP showcased just how far the band has come since exploding onto the East Anglian scene in 2019. They are building themselves a well deserved reputation as a “must see live sensation“.

Following their 2019 demo (which they recorded in only one day!) and four singles recorded in the midst of a global pandemic, The Meffs returned to the studio with Frank Turner early 2022 to record, arguably, their best work yet. Live Lily prowls the stage, covering every inch, sticking out her tongue at the crowd, like a dog who’s been allowed to stick it’s head out of the car window at speed. She’s honest and engaging and boy can she play guitar. Lewis is no slouch on the drums either and the pair just feed off each other throughout. You can tell they are living their best lives in The Meffs!

Having popped their Rebellion cherries in 2022 on the Rebellion Introducing Stage (RIS), making loads of new fans as a result, their return has been rewarded with a slot on the big stage, The Empress Ballroom.

Having played to packed houses, including supporting label bosses NOFX’s farewell UK show and absolutely killing it at Manchester Punk Festival at Easter, gaining even more fans in the process, The Meffs are destined for bigger and better things. Spoiler alert …..if you’re a Tory you might just want to give them a wide berth!!!

Check out their Bandcamp page.

Get your Rebellion off to the perfect start with The Meffs 13:15-13:45 – Thu 3rd Aug – Empress Ballroom
