Listen: BURG – Secretor

There’s a muddy fuzz emanating from Tauranga, New Zealand once again, as Grown Downz and Super Narco Man member Joel Burgin has released a quick follow up to his previous lockdown-induced EP.

Secretor is a four track bedroom-punk released that, to quote the musician, was “recorded on my iPhone using an app called Four Track.

Much like BURG’s prior release, Stuck In A J-Hole, the rough and ready quality production wise is more than made up for with it’s catchy quality, reminiscent of the works of Guided by Voices.

Albeit more aggressive that Robert Pollard and company.

If you’re a follower of what the Tauranga music scene brings to the table though, you’ll know that the lo-fidelity quality is what makes it charming. Although I’ll admit I’m biased…

Secretor is out now through Bandcamp.
