Live Gallery: Arctic Monkeys – Masters of their Domain, Sydney 14.01.2023

Arctic Monkeys

It’s a warm and balmy evening in the Domain. A sold out crowd of 27 000 people are here to see the Arctic Monkeys. This is their last show of an Australian tour that has seen them play Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane as well as appearances at Lost Paradise, Falls Festival and Heaps Good Festival.

Tonight the support acts are the Buoys and DMA’s. The last time I saw the Buoys, they played Mary’s Underground, it’s a far cry from that small venue tonight, as the girls delight the crowd with their high-octane punk rock. The DMA’s are on form and get the audience in the mood with a blistering set. The sun sets and the city lights twinkle overhead as Alex Turner and company take the stage to a rapturous reception from the crowd. Girls are shouting “Alex I Love You” but Turner is unfazed, he strikes his best rockstar pose, his cool attitude and gold Ray Bans are reminiscent of Elvis in his prime. As tight as a tourniquet, Sheffield’s finest sons are Masters of the Domain tonight.
