It was a night heavy with adrenaline and nostalgia at The Leadmill on 17 June—one of the final shows before the venue closes its doors on 28 June 2025. Three exceptional bands—Jet Ski, Dead Pony, and Twin Atlantic—delivered blistering sets, fully aware this would be their last chance to perform at the beloved Sheffield institution. Each offered heartfelt tributes to The Leadmill, acknowledging its legacy in the UK’s live music history
Jet Ski (Opening Set – Caught Midway Due to Traffic)

Unfortunately, I arrived partway through Jet Ski’s set, but what I caught was electric. A Sheffield-based band making waves across the UK alt-rock scene, they channel that mid-2000s emo sound with sincerity and grit. They spoke warmly of The Leadmill as a “launchpad” for their journey. Even from halfway through, their energy gripped the crowd.

Dead Pony’s set was a scorcher from the opening note. Drawing largely from their debut album Ignore This, they slammed into “MK Nothing,” and new song “Boom” with explosive confidence. Anna Shields is a born frontwoman—combining ferocity with fierce joy—as she whipped the crowd into mosh-pit mode during the likes of “MANA” and “COBRA.”
Here’s the full setlist as seen side-of-stage:

- MK NOTHING
- BOOM
- BREAK LIKE ME

Every track was delivered with precision and passion. Don’t miss this band if you can catch them live.

Twin Atlantic (Headline Set)

With Glasgow’s finest, Twin Atlantic, headlining, the night peaked in both volume and sentiment. Frontman Sam McTrusty didn’t shy away from acknowledging the occasion

They powered through fan favourites like “Heart and Soul,” “Crashland,” and “Yes, I Was Drunk” with both precision and vulnerability. The crowd sang every word. During “Salvation,” the opening number, there was a collective roar that shook the floor—a true Leadmill moment.

Final Thoughts
This wasn’t just a gig. It was a goodbye.
All three bands gave The Leadmill the send-off it deserved—with intensity, gratitude, and heartfelt tributes. Despite missing Jet Ski’s full set, the rest of the night more than made up for it. Dead Pony brought fire. Twin Atlantic brought soul. And The Leadmill brought its usual magic one last time.
