This November, Aldous Harding returns to Australia for a run of headline shows across Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney and Brisbane, marking her first local dates behind her forthcoming fifth album Train On The Island.
Harding has never fit neatly into one frame. Her work drifts between folk minimalism and something more abstract, often theatrical without ever tipping into spectacle. Live, that translates into a presence that feels both controlled and unpredictable, songs delivered with a kind of disquieting intimacy that pulls a room inward rather than pushing outward.
The new record, set for release on May 8 via 4AD/Remote Control, has already begun to sketch its shape. Early singles One Stop and Venus In The Zinnia suggest a continuation of that elusive tone, familiar but never fixed. It’s a trajectory that’s been building steadily across her catalogue, each release shifting just enough to avoid repetition.
This Australian return follows an extensive 60-date run across Europe and North America, one of Harding’s most ambitious touring cycles to date. Closer to home, she was last seen locally supporting Nick Cave on his recent Wild God tour. Backseat Mafia has tracked her evolution closely, also catching Harding at Sydney’s City Recital Hall in 2022.
Presales for Frontier and Penny Drop members begin May 6, with general tickets on sale May 7. If her past visits are anything to go by, these won’t sit around.
