News: Basement Jaxx Announce Explosive Sydney Opera House Return After 15 Years

Basement Jaxx are coming home to the party. The Grammy Award-winning UK electronic duo will hit the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Thursday 5 March, marking their first full-scale Australian live show in over 15 years—and what better place to celebrate 30 years of dancefloor chaos than beneath the sails?

Fresh off a euphoric return to the stage at Coachella 2025 and a string of UK and Ireland dates, Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe are bringing their technicolour world of house, garage, funk, and disco to Sydney for one night only. Expect a maximalist explosion of sound and spectacle, with live singers, dancers and the kind of carnival atmosphere that made Red Alert, Where’s Your Head At and Romeo feel like generational lightning bolts.

Few acts embody the joyful anarchy of modern dance music quite like Basement Jaxx. Their hybrid of club euphoria and pop playfulness has kept them at the centre of the electronic conversation for three decades, whether collaborating with Kylie Minogue, Missy Elliott, or Justin Timberlake, or reimagining their catalogue alongside The Metropolitan Orchestra.

As Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music Ben Marshall put it, “their impact on modern music is impossible to overstate.” The promise? A “cathartic extravaganza” that will light up the harbour with pure joy, groove, and glittering nostalgia.

Thirty years in, Basement Jaxx are still the life of the party—and in March, Sydney gets the invite.
