Dallas, TX up and comer Rodrigo Caraballo-Marin, known by his moniker Blue Capricorn, has been turning heads with his unique blend of genres and captivating soundscapes. The Dallas-based Latinx artist, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, is back with his latest single, ‘PALO SANTO,’ showcasing his versatility,, experimental approach to production and emotive storytelling.

‘PALO SANTO’ presents an alternative and electronic offering, immersing listeners in an atmospheric and haunting vibe. Blue Capricorn’s production prowess shines through, drawing in fans of artists like James Blake, Portishead, Nick Hakim, Tirzah, and DARKSIDE. The track stands as a testament to the artist’s ability to seamlessly merge various elements, creating a sonically cohesive and moving experience.

What makes ‘PALO SANTO’ even more intriguing is the improvisational manner in which it came to life. Blue Capricorn entered the studio without any preconceived ideas, lyrics, or rhythms. However, the first hook laid the foundation, and the rest of the song flowed naturally. Breaking away from his previous minimalistic approach, he aimed to explore complexity and layers in this composition, offering a side of himself that has never been seen before.

The collaboration with Michael Briggs, who recorded the track in his studio, played a vital role in shaping the instrumentation. Utilizing primarily midi, samples, theremin, and vocals, Blue Capricorn achieved a mesmerizing sonic landscape. With ‘PALO SANTO,’ he candidly delves into themes of infatuation and desire, embracing vulnerability and openness in his storytelling.

Blue Capricorn’s upcoming EP, titled ¡AYÚDAME!, is set for release on September 8, 2023. ‘PALO SANTO’ serves as a glimpse into the creative depth and emotional range that listeners can expect from this emerging talent. As his passion for music continues to fuel his journey, Blue Capricorn leaves an indelible mark in the music industry with his high productions and ever-growing creative prowess.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘PALO SANTO,’ Blue Capricorn shares, “It’s about desire and infatuation. It’s me being submissive and accepting of the idea of receiving love and being fragile to it and by it. Love wasn’t really something I was used to the last eight years of my life, and I’ve learned so much about it until very recently. I didn’t know anything about love, and I’ve grown to be quite sensitive about it. It’s something I value more than ever.”

‘PALO SANTO’ is now available on all major streaming platforms, offering music enthusiasts an enchanting and soul-stirring experience. As anticipation builds for the release of ¡AYÚDAME!, Blue Capricorn’s captivating storytelling and innovative musicality promise to leave a lasting impression on the hearts of his growing fanbase.
