80s/90s indie upstarts BOB have announced they are releasing a new album ‘You can stop that for a start’ via Optic Nerve on September 25th. The band, beloved of far too few people during their original existence despite three Peel sessions and the magnificent ‘Convenience’ featuring in the Festive Fifty of 1989.
The release is a twelve track album, available on double cd or limited vinyl – only 200 Blue Vinyl copies available and 100 black vinyl copies and that will be it according to the band, with another 16 tracks coming as a download. Of the record, drummer Dean Leggett told us “It’s definitely out best music and the main vinyl album is a natural follow on from ‘Leave the Straight Life Behind’” (the bands 1991 album, and the only album they released apart from a 1988 compilation of early singles ‘Swag Sack’, and a fairly recent retrospective), adding “I think Rich and Simon (songwriters Richard Blackborrow and Simon Armstrong) were writing way ahead of their time, thats for sure”.
All the recordings in the set have been newly mixed by songwriters Simon Armstrong and Richard Blackborow, and come packaged in artwork conceived by the band and accompanied by period images and new sleevenotes. ‘You Can Stop That For A Start’ is a must for all fans of BOB.
