Brighton trio blend punk energy, alt-rock chaos and viral hype into their most complete work yet.
Brighton’s rapidly rising alt-rock trio Bones Ate Arfa have released their long-awaited new EP, Just Bananas, a six-track punch to the gut that blends psychedelic grit, punk attitude, playful ideas and some brilliantly infectious riffs. With a buzzing presence both online and on-stage, the band are riding a wave of momentum straight into a mammoth UK tour running through April and early May.
Formed by guitarist Bones, drummer 8, and vocalist/bassist Arfa, the trio have carved out a unique space in the UK’s underground rock scene. With over 120k followers on TikTok and a fresh collaboration with edgy French skating brand Wasted Paris, Bones Ate Arfa are proving that DIY ethics and digital-native instincts can go hand in hand.
Their new EP, Just Bananas, is the band’s most ambitious and cohesive release to date. From the swampy swagger of opener ‘Mud Lover’ to the breakneck punk urgency of ‘Mary Molotov’ and the infectious melodies of title track ‘Just Bananas’ and ‘don’t leave me now’, the EP is loaded with heavy riffs, bruising basslines and Arfa’s surpidingly catchy and melodic vocals which retaining an edgy, venom-laced delivery.
Speaking on the EP, the band describes their sound as “psychedelic-street-punk-desert-rock”—a mash-up that makes perfect sense once you hear the chaos and chemistry flowing through every track.
Bones Ate Arfa have become a force to reckon with in the southeastern live circuit, gaining attention from the likes of Radio X and BBC Radio 6 Music. Their fanbase has grown not just through relentless gigging but also through endorsements from names like Muse, Fred Durst, Isaac Holman (SOFT PLAY), and Royal Blood, helping cement their reputation as one of the most exciting bands to watch this year.
The Just Bananas tour kicked off today (April 22nd), the band promising sweat-soaked chaos in cities across the UK. With their blistering energy and unfiltered charm, Bones Ate Arfa are not just making noise—they’re making a name for themselves.
