French synthwave artist Carpenter Brut will bring his full live production to Australia for the first time next January, announcing three exclusive east coast headline shows ahead of his appearance at Froth & Fury Festival in Adelaide.
Over the past decade, Carpenter Brut has carved out a distinctive space between synthwave, metal and horror cinema. Drawing influence from filmmaker John Carpenter, thrash metal pioneers Slayer, French electronic duo Justice and the visual style of Dario Argento, his music balances driving electronic rhythms with distorted guitars and cinematic tension.
The Australian dates arrive in support of Leather Temple, the concluding chapter of a trilogy that began with Leather Teeth (2018) and continued with Leather Terror (2022). Expanding on the narrative threads of its predecessors, the new record further blurs the boundaries between concept album, imagined film soundtrack and electronic music, reinforcing Carpenter Brut’s reputation as one of synthwave’s defining voices.
While Australian audiences have previously experienced his music through recordings and festival appearances, these headline shows mark the first opportunity to witness Carpenter Brut’s complete live production. His performances have become a fixture at major European festivals, combining synchronised visuals, theatrical lighting and a live band to translate the scale of his recordings onto the stage.
Joining the tour is fellow French producer Sierra Veins, whose brooding blend of dark electronics and industrial textures provides a fitting introduction to the evening.
With Leather Temple now complete and a fully realised production finally making its way to Australia, Carpenter Brut’s long-awaited return promises to showcase why he remains one of the most distinctive artists working at the intersection of electronic music and heavy music.
