Post-punk icons Chameleons have announced Arctic Moon, their long-awaited new studio album, set for release on 12th September 2025 via Metropolis Records. The album follows a triumphant 2024 and builds on last year’s Where Are You? and Tomorrow Remember Yesterday EPs.

Frontman Mark Burgess (aka Vox) describes the record as “a positive step forward” that showcases a mature sound while staying true to the band’s distinctive, emotive style. “For the first time, we’ve used real orchestral strings on a couple of songs,” he adds, with arrangements by Pete Whitfield of Real Strings. “They’ve added something truly epic.”

Ahead of the release, the band will continue their extensive touring schedule with summer dates across Spain and Portugal, a slot at Milton Keynes’ Forever Now festival, and a U.S. tour including a dozen dates with The Psychedelic Furs. A headline North American tour kicks off two weeks after Arctic Moon drops, followed by shows in mainland Europe and a previously announced UK tour in November.

Cited as a key influence on acts like Interpol, The Killers, and White Lies, Chameleons’ back catalogue remains revered, with their 1983 debut Script of the Bridge often hailed as a genre-defining classic. Arctic Moon will mark their fifth full-length studio album—and, judging by the band’s own excitement, a bold new chapter in a storied legacy.

Previous Album Review: Ellen Beth Abdi – Ellen Beth Abdi; Soulful, smoky, and quietly spellbinding.
Next Track: Amanda Whiting – What Is It We Need; (Feat, Alice Russell) elegant, unhurried soul
