Legendary Liverpudlians, China Crisis, have just revealed news of their first ever tour down under with gigs in Australia and New Zealand scheduled for August.

While part of the new wave, new romantic explosion in the eighties, China Crisis were unique due to their concentration on music and lyrics as opposed to image, producing a swathe of melodic masterpieces displaying a range of instrumentation with intelligent, often political, lyrics.

China Crisis were formed in 1979 by Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon with a revolving range of musicians in support, and had a close engagement with Walter Becker from Steely Dan who produced and played on their album ‘Flaunt the Imperfection’.

Last year, Gary Daly released a brilliant solo album, ‘Gone From Here’, reviewed by Backseat Mafia and listed as one of my favorite releases of 2019.

Witness the exquisite beauty of ‘Wishful Thinking”:

Other major releases include the epic ‘African and White’, ‘Christian’, ‘Working with Fire and Steel’, ‘Black Man Ray’ and ‘Arizona Sky’. This tour is at the end of a global tour commencing in February in the US and including most of Europe.
