Citizen have always preferred to pull it apart and start again. The Toledo outfit return with news of a new album, Halcyon Blues, due August 7 via Run For Cover Records and Civilians, alongside the release of towering lead single Highs and Lows.
‘Highs and Lows’ arrives as a slow-burner with intent. It builds from a dark, pulsing bassline into a chorus that opens wide without losing its weight, a reminder that Citizen have long understood how to stretch tension without snapping it.
Nearly two decades into their career, Halcyon Blues is framed as a statement of confidence rather than reinvention for its own sake. It draws on the band’s restless catalogue while sharpening the edges, leaning into a sound that feels expansive without drifting.
The announcement comes with confirmation of a major Australian return in February 2027. Citizen will play their biggest headline shows here to date, hitting Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, following their last visit in 2024 for New Bloom Festival.
Joining them across all dates are Drug Church, a band whose ability to fuse abrasive force with melodic instinct has quietly built a loyal following of their own. Their presence suggests a tour less interested in nostalgia than momentum.
