At just 19 years old, Indian rap disruptor colle$ttye is rapidly emerging as one of the most distinctive voices in the country’s evolving alternative hip-hop landscape. His latest release, ‘BLUNTONOMICS’, a high-octane collaboration with global rap heavyweight Wiz Khalifa, arrives via D36 / Sony Music Entertainment and marks a major milestone in the young artist’s ascent.

Born Bhuvas Singh Tomar and raised in Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi, colle$ttye represents a new generation of internet-native musicians redefining what Indian hip-hop can be. Classically trained in piano from the age of four and later self-taught as a producer, he has cultivated a sound that sits somewhere between hyperpop maximalism, emo-trap introspection, and the raw emotional honesty that defined the SoundCloud rap movement of the mid-2010s.

That blend reaches new heights on ‘BLUNTONOMICS’, a genre-blurring record that balances introspection with unfiltered intensity. Driven by distorted synths, thunderous trap percussion, and emotionally charged vocal performances, the track exists in a unique space between late-night reflection and festival-ready chaos. It’s a song that feels equally suited to headphones and mosh pits.

The story behind the single is as unconventional as the music itself. What began as an offhand reference quickly evolved into one of colle$ttye’s most ambitious releases to date.

“BLUNTONOMICS started as something completely unintentional. I mentioned a ‘Bluntonomics professor’ as a throwaway line while breaking down my track CGPA, and the internet turned it into a whole meme. This song is me responding to that moment, turning it into something louder, more intense.”

Built as a reimagined evolution of his viral track ‘CGPA’, the new single was entirely self-produced from his home studio in Noida. Pushing further into hyperpop territory, colle$ttye amplifies distortion, reworks drum programming for maximum impact, and embraces a chaotic yet deeply emotional sonic palette that mirrors the song’s themes of pressure, identity, and self-determination.

The addition of Wiz Khalifa elevates the track even further. According to colle$ttye, the collaboration came together organically ahead of Rolling Loud India, after the record found its way to the rapper’s team. Wiz enters during the final third of the song, providing a veteran presence that complements rather than overshadows the record’s restless energy.

“His cadence against the hyperpop production is something I didn’t know I wanted until I heard it back. It pushes the song into a full crescendo.”

Beyond its sonic ambition, ‘BLUNTONOMICS’ taps into a broader cultural conversation. At its core, the track challenges rigid academic expectations and conventional definitions of success, transforming a viral internet joke into an anthem for a generation navigating ambition, uncertainty, and the pressure to fit predetermined paths.

Visually, colle$ttye continues to refine the Y2K-inspired aesthetic that has become central to his creative identity. The accompanying black-and-white music video, filmed around Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Loud India appearance, adopts a documentary-style approach, prioritising real moments and spontaneous energy over polished spectacle. The result feels immediate, authentic, and aligned with the emotional intensity of the music itself.

With his next project, ‘VICTORY LAP’, slated for 2026 alongside an international media campaign spanning the UK and Europe, colle$ttye appears poised for a significant breakthrough beyond India’s borders.
