News: Matz Patrick Shares Intimate New Single ‘cowboy blues’

Matz Patrick releases the intimate new single ‘cowboy blues’.

Luscious harmonies, emphatic strings and rich piano provide the backdrop for Patrick’s gentle, patient vocal performance, creating a track that feels expansive without losing its intimacy. Where previous single ‘augustine’ established a sense of atmosphere, ‘cowboy blues’ pushes that palette further, moving from close, understated verses into spacey choruses and breakdowns built around big-room percussion, sweeping reverbs and richly layered production under the heartfelt lead vocal.

Written by Patrick and initially demoed at home, the track was gradually shaped with contributions from producers overseas. Despite its scale, ‘cowboy blues’ never feels overly polished or manufactured. Instead, its imperfections and emotional uncertainty are central to its appeal, giving the song an authenticity that feels increasingly rare. It is a record that sounds like an artist figuring things out in real time, one that opens another page in a developing story.

“‘cowboy blues’ is the release of my own insecurities and doubts when it comes to making music. The lyrics allude to a relationship, but it’s just as much about my relationship to making music and finding myself as an artist. This song feels cinematic and uncertain, like it could take off at any moment but still returns to an intimate place of comfort.”

That tension between uncertainty and comfort sits at the heart of ‘cowboy blues’. Patrick’s vocal remains restrained even as the production grows around him, giving the track a cinematic quality without sacrificing the personal perspective at its core. The result is a song that feels both intimate and widescreen, balancing self-doubt with the possibility of something bigger.

Drawing on the landscapes of his North Carolina upbringing, Matz Patrick has been steadily developing a sound rooted in emotional clarity and close observation. He made his debut in July 2025 with ‘carolina blue’, which went on to surpass 60,000 streams and set the foundation for his debut EP, Sweet Reminder. The project, alongside the singles that preceded it, attracted support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio in both the US and UK, and Spotify editorial playlists.

With a headline show at O2 Islington Academy scheduled for October 31, Matz Patrick is entering the final stretch of 2026 with momentum firmly behind him.
