Fatboy Slim is heading back to Australia in March 2027, but Norman Cook is swapping the usual festival fields and superclubs for a collection of rather less predictable spaces across Fremantle, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
The seven-date run begins beneath the stars at Fremantle’s Esplanade Park on March 3 before Cook settles into Sydney for three nights at Carriageworks on March 5, 6 and 7. Brisbane follows with a riverside set at South Bank Forecourt for On The Banks on March 10, before two Melbourne shows at The Underpass on March 12 and 13.
It is the Sydney residency that immediately stands out. Carriageworks’ heritage railway workshops provide a suitably industrial setting for three consecutive nights with a DJ whose career has repeatedly demonstrated that the location can be almost as important as the dancefloor. Rather than simply rolling the same production through conventional venues, the tour has been designed around spaces with their own character.
Cook arrives after another typically busy year behind the decks. His 2026 schedule has included Coachella’s Quasar stage, four nights on Brighton Beach and Rock in Rio in Brazil. The Australian dates deliberately pull things back from that scale, putting him closer to audiences without pretending that anything about a Fatboy Slim show is likely to be particularly restrained.
More than three decades after emerging from the UK acid-house explosion, Fatboy Slim still has an absurdly deep collection of dancefloor ammunition. ‘The Rockafeller Skank’, ‘Praise You’, ‘Right Here, Right Now’ and ‘Weapon of Choice’ remain central to his catalogue, while ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’ introduced his particular brand of maximalist party music to another generation.
He has hardly been treating that back catalogue as museum material. Recent releases include ‘Satisfaction Skank’, which folds The Rolling Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’ into ‘The Rockafeller Skank’, and ‘Funk Drunk’, his collaboration with Brazilian DJ Carola and Felix Da Housecat.
That mixture of history and an enduring appetite for the next party has kept Cook in an unusual position within electronic music. His CV stretches from Ibiza residencies and 20 consecutive years playing Glastonbury to the enormous Big Beach Boutique gatherings in Brighton, yet he has always seemed just as comfortable when the surroundings get a little stranger.
The 2027 Australian tour taps directly into that instinct. Railway sheds, a riverside forecourt, an urban underpass and a park beside the ocean are not the standard arena circuit, which is precisely the point. Fatboy Slim is bringing the party back to Australia, but this time the buildings get to join in.
