News: Louie Blue Returns With New Single ‘In The Dark,’ Previews Upcoming Album Blood & Bones

Finnish alternative solo artist Louie Blue has released his latest single ‘In The Dark’ today (August 22nd), the newest in a series of pre-album drops leading up to his highly anticipated third studio record, Blood & Bones, arriving September 19 via Sony & Booa Music.

e. While sonically light and upbeat, ‘In The Dark’ carries emotional weight in its lyrics, which explore themes of uncertainty in relationships and the struggle to communicate. Layered vocals, warming modulated guitar tones and a retro-tinged production lend the track a playful yet technically sophisticated feel comparable to Mk.Gee and Westerman.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Louie said: “The story is based on the movie ‘I, Tonya’. I felt very moved by the film, and wanted to write about the betrayal and desensitization of abuse.”

The release marks Louie Blue’s return after a four-year hiatus from recording. Following the success of his debut album Notes (2020) and sophomore effort Division 8 (2022), the artist chose to take a step back and reimagine his creative approach. During the making of Blood & Bones, Louie built his own studio, acquiring a new set up and experimenting with tape recording and vintage production methods.

“I leaned into analog textures and a raw, organic production style,” Louie explained. “Everything was recorded on tape using live instruments and vintage techniques. I wanted the sound to be warm and imperfect—an antidote to today’s hyper-polished pop.”

The result, he says, draws inspiration from the likes of The Police and Genesis, balancing bold experimentation with timeless songwriting. “Rather than chasing formulas, I leaned into unpredictability and risk,” Louie added. “This is music that mirrors who I am, not who I’m supposed to be. It’s bold, honest, and alive. I wanted to make music that sounds like music again.”

Since breaking out at age 17 with the viral hit Confused, Louie Blue has built a reputation as one of Finland’s most promising exports. ‘In The Dark’ is available now on all major streaming platforms. Louie Blue’s upcoming LP, Blood & Bones, will be released September 19th.
