News: Lucy Spraggan releases new single ‘Bodies’

Lucy Spraggan is back today with Bodies, the new single from her forthcoming album Balance. Bodies, accompanied by a beautiful video, is out now. Watch the video below and listen to the track here.

Bodies finds Lucy reflecting upon her journey of working through image issues and learning how to build a better and heathier relationship between her mind and body. Accompanied by a beautiful piano, filmed by Sitcom Soldiers at Breatheolution, Lucy once again showcases her unmistakable vocals.

Speaking about the track, Lucy says: “I have struggled with body image for as many years as I can remember. In 2019, I started to lose weight and whilst my body changed a lot, my brain didn’t. Though I’d dropped several dress sizes, I still couldn’t make peace with my physical body. I wrote Bodies because I think it’s important to be honest about the way our bodies and brains can work against each other. After a lot of therapy and work surrounding self-worth, I have been able to start a better relationship with myself, though I still struggle with body image issues. This album speaks openly about my mental health struggles and divulges the different ways in which it manifests itself. Bodies is my favourite track from the album.”

In recent months, Lucy has been putting the finishing touches to not only her new album, Balance, out 11th August, but also her memoir, Process, out via Bonnier Books on 20th July. Both the 14-track album (tracklisting below) and the book see her reflecting on her life till now. As well as the book and her new music, Lucy embarks next month on her headline UK tour with dates either sold out or close to selling out in the coming weeks. Full dates below and tickets are on sale here. Lucy has also been picked by Spotify to be their GLOW UK & Ireland Ambassador for April, a platform that celebrates and supports LGBTQIA+ creators and shines a light on the community and culture. As a GLOW ambassador, Spotify support Lucy all across their platform and socials as well as with outdoor advertising all over the country. Feeling stronger, positive, and more empowered than ever, Lucy is ready to do everything on her terms and take 2023 by storm.

Talking about the forthcoming album and book, Lucy comments: “I’ve been working very hard over the last 18 months on my album and I’ve been working for nearly two and a half years on my book and I’m thrilled that both things I have created are going to be released into the world! I’m full of anticipation and excitement and at points nervous about the release but I can’t wait. 2023 is going to be a big one!”

Lucy was the first contestant in X Factor history to score a Top 40 single and album before the live shows aired. Since her appearance on X Factor, Lucy has sold over 140k albums and reached over 140 million streams on Spotify alone with over 555k monthly listeners. Choices, Lucy’s last album released in 2021, debuted at #5 in the Official UK Albums charts.
