News: Neeko to Support Moontide at The Night Cat This February

Neeko will join Ausecuma Beats and Leelu on Thursday 12 February, supporting Moontide at The Night Cat. The show follows the release of Neeko’s latest single, ‘FLOWERS TO MY DOOR // SWORD OF SACRIFICE’, and marks a clear progression in her work as both a songwriter and producer.

The track blends cinematic trip-hop textures with restrained, emotionally direct songwriting. Recorded between Neeko’s self-built rural studio and Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios, and co-produced with Callum Edwards, it reflects a growing confidence behind the desk as well as in front of the microphone. Sonically, the song draws from a 90s lineage that includes Portishead, Massive Attack and Björk, alongside more contemporary electronic and folk influences.

Lyrically, ‘FLOWERS TO MY DOOR // SWORD OF SACRIFICE’ sits in the aftermath of a relationship rupture, examining heartbreak, anger and eventual release without melodrama. The arrangement moves from sparse guitar and vocal lines into denser rhythmic territory, with an unexpected drum and bass passage that underscores Neeko’s willingness to let form follow feeling rather than expectation. Initially sparked by a Ry X reference track, the song ultimately reshaped itself during production, a process Neeko has described as requiring surrender rather than control.

Neeko’s broader practice has long occupied the space between folk storytelling and electronic experimentation. Over the past decade she has worked across multiple projects, including founding the all-female collective BLUME, a regular presence at Melbourne’s Toff in Town, and performing as a drummer with psych-rock group TomGirl. Across these projects, collaboration and improvisation have remained central to her approach.

Following a period of retreat and travel through the Australian bush, Bali, and Central and South America, Neeko has returned with a substantial body of new material. Her forthcoming sophomore album, FLOWER TONE SLAYER, due February 2026, builds on her folk-soul foundations while leaning further into trip-hop and downtempo electronic textures, positioning this current release as a considered bridge between chapters.
