News: Re:Um Shares Beautiful New Single ‘Burn (Me Down)

Re:um returns with new single ‘Burn (Me Down)’ a glittering example of the artists blend of soulful lo-fi electronica and soaring, guitar work. Gaining praise from the likes of John Mayer , the London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist continues a prolific run in 2025 with his 13th release of the year (already followed up by the edm sweller ‘Unravel’).

Re:um has become a boundary-pushing artist unafraid to move between styles. Bringing some gorgeous, smooth guitar licks over an expansive, beautifully nuanced, etherial electronic soundscape, carrying Re:um’s trademark sense of finesse. Rich textures and expressive melodies shape what feels like one of his most revealing works to date, pairing elegant production, silky falsetto vocals and a genuine sense of intimacy and emotion. The track ultimately is as comparable to the likes of Frank Ocean and Mount Kimbie as it is to SOHN and even in part John Mayer thanks to the bluesy guitar licks.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Re:um explains, “This track centres around burnout, caused by one’s own unrelenting drive to evolve and improve at the expense of enjoying the journey and being present. Ironically, making this song was contributing to said burnout, but felt worthwhile. Although it feels this way almost every time I toil over every last detail of a track late into many consecutive nights.”

The tension between artistic ambition and personal strain is a thread that runs through Re:um’s creative identity. The project itself was born out of Eriksen’s early experiments on piano, bass, and guitar, eventually merging with electronic elements to create a genre-fluid sound. His catalog now ranges from soulful downtempo beats to house, a fusion that continues to attract both critics and listeners alike.
