News: Róisín Murphy Returns: Australian Headline Shows Confirmed After 5-Year Hiatus

Róisín Murphy, Ireland’s reigning queen of electronic indie pop, is finally returning to Australian shores for her first headline shows in over five years. The avant-garde icon will kick off the Live at the Gardens March series with a performance under the stars at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens on Friday, 7 March 2025.

Murphy’s upcoming tour will include one Melbourne appearance, along with stops in Brisbane, Sydney, WOMADelaide in South Australia, and New Zealand.

Róisín Murphy has redefined the boundaries of electronic pop, earning her place as one of the genre’s most innovative and daring voices. Her fearless creativity has made her both influential and utterly unique.

Murphy’s journey began in Manchester, where a chance encounter with bassist Mark Brydon led to the formation of Moloko. Their 1995 debut, Do You Like My Tight Sweater?, introduced a bold, quirky sound that resonated globally, with hits like Sing It Back cementing their legacy. After Moloko disbanded in 2003, Murphy launched a solo career that has continuously evolved, challenging expectations with every release.

From the experimental glitches of Ruby Blue (2005) to the ahead-of-its-time pop brilliance of Overpowered (2007), and the lush, club-ready anthems of Róisín Machine (2020), Murphy has proven time and again that she’s a master of reinvention. Her latest album, Hit Parade—a collaboration with DJ Koze—was hailed as her finest work yet, earning critical acclaim and her highest UK chart position to date.
