News: Snayx release new single ‘Deranged’ and announce debut EP ‘Weaponized Youth: Part 1’

Soon to be your new favourite band, SNAYX (pronounced Snakes) are kicking off 2023 in style with their infectious new single ‘Deranged’. The band explain “ ‘Deranged’ is about taking control of your life and biting back at conforming to social norms that suppress individuality. It’s about being unashamed, and being yourself with absolute intensity.”

SNAYX filmed the accompanying video with zero budget shot on iPhone with a cast of a few friends and a next-door neighbour! The concept is a funeral where everyone becomes gradually more emotional and begins to show their true motivations and feelings as their masks begin to slip.

“The challenge for us was to make a video that could work in either landscape or portrait orientations, without expensive reshoots/reedits.” the band said. “We wanted to create something that could natively work in both formats without compromise. As a very hands-on band, we thought we’d try a full zero-budget music video with massively stripped-back production. We got together early on Christmas Eve, dug a hole in the garden, invited everyone over and let the chaos ensue!”

Combining explosive riffs and confrontational vocals with splashes of playful punk, SNAYX are breaking through at a time when socially conscious, aggressive guitar music is making waves across the UK and beyond. The likes of Nova Twins, Bob Vylan and Kid Kapichi (all bands SNAYX have supported) shows what DIY bands can achieve.

“There’s a real scene that’s coming through at the minute and it just feels so exciting. We want to be a part of that,” the band explain. “It’s different to the old-school punk scene but it’s got the same energy and intensity behind it. It’s really liberating.”

‘Deranged’ will be one of the tracks featured on the band’s highly anticipated forthcoming debut EP ‘Weaponized Youth: Part 1’ which is set for a March 10th release. It also features the previous single “Work” which received love across UK radio and press on release.

Track List is as follows:

1. Work

2. Body Language

3. Deranged

4. Weaponized

5. Buck

Pre-orders are available now for a limited edition vinyl through Austerity Records:

Austerity Records is a socially-conscious record label & promotions company based on the south coast of England. Fiercely independent & strictly not-for-profit, their primary goal is to help new & upcoming artists attract fresh audiences & get the attention that they deserve.

With numerous tours and festival appearances, SNAYX have covered an awful lot of ground in a short space of time, and their music is just as ambitious. “If you limit yourself creatively, you put yourself in a box. We’ve never wanted to do that,” they say. “We want to work outside of boxes, to make something we truly love.”
