News: Somewhere In Between Share New Single ‘Lay Your Head On Me’

Canadian-American indie folk duo Somewhere In Between, the husband-wife team of Deena Robertson and Austin Bisnow, have returned to the spotlight with their latest single, ‘Lay Your Head On Me’, a tender, cinematic anthem that doubles as a balm for turbulent times. Released this week, the track marks the first taste of their upcoming sophomore album, title yet to be announced.

Rooted in soft acoustics and raw emotionality, ‘Lay Your Head On Me’ carries the hallmarks of a duo in evolution. The soundscape is delicate yet powerful, drawing comparisons to Thom Yorke’s introspection, the vulnerability of Tom Odell, and the deep emotional chemistry reminiscent of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. The song also echoes the familiar warmth of indie folk mainstays like The Lumineers, Bon Iver, and The Head and the Heart.

But beyond sonic touchstones, the single carries a deeply personal weight. It was inspired by an early vow Deena and Austin made to each other during the uncertain first stages of their relationship: in moments of pain or fear, they would pause and rest—Head On Chest. That quiet ritual of reassurance became a defining pillar of their love story, now immortalized in a song that gently urges listeners to slow down, soften, and seek comfort in one another.

“‘Lay Your Head On Me’ is really a love letter to that promise,” said Robertson in a statement. “It’s about finding safety in another person, especially when the world feels unsteady.”

Since forming Somewhere In Between, the duo has amassed nearly 3 million global streams, with their 2022 debut album Stories Untold propelling them onto the international stage. That record produced multiple breakout singles, landing them a spot on Spotify’s Fresh Folk playlist and Norway’s Viral 50. Their introspective songwriting and heartfelt performances have earned coverage in indie tastemaker outlets.

They’ve also played sold-out shows across the U.S., building a steadily growing and deeply loyal fanbase drawn to their brand of stripped-down honesty and emotional transparency.

Away from the mic, Robertson and Bisnow remain true to their ethos of balance and mindfulness. Earlier this year, the pair launched In Between Coffee, a wellness-focused half-caff brand aimed at helping people find equilibrium in their daily rituals. The venture mirrors the same philosophy that underpins their music: thoughtful, intentional living in a world that often demands extremes.

Bisnow, who has previously collaborated with artists like John Legend and David Guetta, brings a polished production sensibility to the duo’s raw lyricism, while Robertson, a yoga entrepreneur, grounds their work in self-awareness and calm.
